The 1997 White Riesling Hoot Owl Special Select Late Harvest was picked at high sugar levels - 39% at harvest, with 22.8% residual sugar and 9.4% alcohol. It is a heavy, thicky, oily example, with fabulously pure, refreshing fruit, a melange of tropical fruit aromas and flavors, and extraordinary richness and viscosity. This wine is so concentrated it can be drunk with a spoon. It will age for at least a decade. Dick Arrowood has a stunning resume with respect to his nectar-like dessert wines.
